Awaken

“Therefore He says: Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

-Ephesians 5:14

Awaken us!

Lay to rest our comfort, if that is what must be. For it has jaded us for far too long. We have become unaware of The Darkness that has found the cracks in the Foundation of our Faith. He has permeated our walls and has slowly poured in. Unaware that we were, fixated upon trinkets and things that flash, that the sanctuary of our churches and souls were slowly flooding. Until, quite by surprise, we were suddenly gasping for what could be our final breath. Oh Lord, break these walls that the flood waters can escape. That your Light can return again to chase him away. To send him back into the shadows where he belongs.

We have become like corpses within. Cold and lifeless as we have lost the passion for Him, our first love. As Death has corrupted this Faith that we once held true. A Faith that coursed it’s life blood through our veins. Yet here we are, forgetting how to breathe. How to move. Oh God, breathe within us your breath of Life. That we may inhale and exhale all that You are. Stab our hearts yet again with The Double Edged Sword. Bid The Blood to run. That warmth may come to our flesh again as it finds its color. That we can discover Life yet again. The Life that you had given us as we had risen from our knees and dried our eyes.

Bring your Spirit upon us. Give us the understanding of Your Word. That we may fashion it into the Armor. The Shield. The Sword. That which destroys The Enemy. That breaks his fetters and shackles. That grants us the Freedom from his sweet poisonous disease that has deceived us for too many days. That has brought us to beg the question… “How?”

Awaken us to this War. The Trojan Horse has come into the gates. The Enemy is within the corridors. He sits in our pews. He plays the harp. He stands in the pulpit. He poisons The Truth with Lies and leads astray those that sleepwalk. Those that have allowed him to strip us of our armor, shield, and sword. Now we stand naked as the lashings begin. Blood splatters upon the stained glass of our Sanctuary. Of our own hearts. He rules with deception and fear. May You, oh Lord, ruin his kingdom. But it cannot be done as long as he pulls the chain that binds our throats.

Equip us Father with Truth. With a boldness that surpasses such Fears. With an eye that sees past the storm clouds and into the halls of Heaven. With the offense and defense that is needed. A Faith planted upon stone. Pull this Phoenix from the ashes into Resurrection that we may stand again. Turn our eyes to stare down Darkness that we may witness its defeat. Raise us once more. Be that which makes us be.

Awaken us God!

“So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet— a vast army.”
